DeskPilot is a browser-based mail client, located at http://mail.yourdomain.name. DeskPilot allows you to access your mail when you are not in a position to use a stand-alone mail client (such as Eudora or Outlook Express). There are a few things you should know about DeskPilot:
- Once you are logged into DeskPilot, the only way to refresh the listing of mail is to press "Refresh Inbox".
- DeskPilot has its own address book. This can be accessed by going to the Organizing > Address Book section. It is not connected to your mail client address book in any way. However, you can export your address book from your mail client to DeskPilot, or visa versa, using CSV (comma-separated values) files. To do that, please navigate to Import/Export section on the top (to access this menu on the top of the page, you should be viewing INBOX).
- DeskPilot sometimes goes down while your mail server is still up. It is not covered by our uptime guarantee. For this reason, we recommend against using it as your primary mail client. You should still contact Technical Support when you encounter problems with DeskPilot.
- To delete absolutely ALL messages from your inbox, including messages you don't see (or messages that have arrived since you last refreshed your list), please navigate to "INBOX (left hand side navigation bar) > Folders (on the top)", select a folder or a subfolder", and apply "Empty Folder(s)" action from the "Choose Action" drop-down box.
- You can also set your Trash folder to automatically purge Yearly, Monthly, Daily, or Every login. To make this change, please navigate to "INBOX (left hand side navigation bar) > Options (on the top) > Login Tasks (General Option section) > Purge Trash how often". A safer way to delete messages is by deleting all messages on the page (click on the check mark in the column header to check all messages, then press Delete).
- You can only log into one mailbox at a time (from a single computer) via DeskPilot. Trying to log into multiple mailboxes from the same computer at the same time will result in problems.
- DeskPilot is cookie-based. You must have cookies enabled to log into DeskPilot. In addition, you must make sure that your browser does not cache the DeskPilot page. If your browser caches the page, clear your browser cache to fix the problem.
- To create or manage mailboxes on your account please use My Services interface (http://mymailboxmanager.com) with the postmaster credentials (postmaster@yourdomain.name).
- Users can also manage their mailbox settings via My Services control panel interface logging in with their common mailbox name and password.
- You can select all messages on a page by clicking on the check mark in the column header. You can use this when you want to delete all messages on a page, or move all messages on a page to another folder. If a message is already checked, clicking on this header will UNcheck the item.
- DeskPilot has its own calendar. It can be accessed via Organizing > Calendar menu option (left hand side navigation bar). You can create, edit or search events for a day, a week or a month. Logging in with postmaster credentials you can manage calendars for all account mailboxes.
- To import/export your calendar please click on Import/Export menu option on the top of the page.
- To add a new note or manage existing notes please select Organizing > Notes.
